Leave A Legacy- Through Planned Giving or Endowment
With planned giving, you can to make a charitable gift now or through your estate. Your gift to The Education Foundation’s Endowment Fund ensures that Alachua Public School students and teachers will continue to benefit in perpetuity.
Create an Endowment
Funds are permanently held to create a revenue stream that lets you meet the needs of local scholars.
Create a Scholarship
You can honor a loved one by setting the parameters of a scholarship in their memory. Examples include scholarships for nursing majors, future educators, or those who played a particular sport. Scholarships can be needs based, merit or interests based. It is a wonderful way to honor a loved one.
A scholarship can be set up for a minimum of $1,000 with no upper limit.
Donors can either send us the amount of their scholarship plus a $150 fee (per scholarship) each year or create an account with us.
Sponsor a Take Stock in Children Scholar
Every Take Stock Student requires a $5,000 investment to ensure they have the support to graduate high school and obtain a two-year scholarship to any Florida college, that is matched $1 for $1 from the state.
For further information, please email Tia Brock-Paul or call 352-955-2750 to find out how you can make a difference in a student’s life.
Other Ways to Give
Donate your IRA tax-free:
Did you know that you can support the Education Foundation of Alachua County and satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) tax-free at the same time? If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA. This is also known as known as an IRA charitable rollover.
A QCD is a distribution from your IRA directly to a qualified charity, specifically the Education Foundation . This distribution counts towards your RMD and can directly decrease your taxable income, even if you don’t itemize your deductions. If you are interested in this tax saving contribution, contact your tax advisor as well as your IRA custodian to determine their process for initiating a QCD.
Residual Beneficiary
As an alternative to a specific dollar amount or percentage bequest, you may wish to designate The Education Foundation as the “residual beneficiary” of the estate. After family members and others have received specific bequests, the endowment fund as a “residual beneficiary” will receive what is left in the estate. The Education Foundation can also be named as the beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k) or 403(b).
