Gwendolyn Delores Saffo, a Monticello native, holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Shaw University and an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Florida. With over 35 years of experience in equal opportunity, human resources, and social justice, she served in various roles with the City of Gainesville’s Office of Equal Opportunity, including Chief Investigator and Interim Director. She led outreach initiatives such as the Dismantling Racism Initiative.
Ms. Saffo is a longtime community leader and former President of the Gainesville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She co-founded the Collaboratively Woke Initiative, driving impactful civic engagement programs. She serves as Vice President of the League of Women Voters of Alachua County, mentors with the Education Foundation, and is active in numerous civic and professional organizations.Her recent honors include the 2023 Mercerdese Clark Trailblazer Award and the Violette N. Anderson Award. Guided by faith and service, she lives by the motto: “Living my life like it’s golden.”
