Ellen Gershow

Ellen Gershow grew up in Dayton, Ohio.  She earned a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, a J.D. from the University of Miami, and a Masters of Law in Taxation from the University of Florida.  Ellen and her husband Jim moved to Gainesville in 1981 and have been involved in the community since that time.  Jim practiced as an ENT surgeon and Ellen an estate planning attorney until their retirements.

Ellen served as president of the Education Foundation for 2 years and as a board member for a number of years.  She was also a mentor.  

Other volunteer activities include president of Hillel at the University for 7 years, member of the Advisory Boards of the University of Florida Performing Arts and the University of Florida Law School.  She has recently served on the Friends of Theatre and Dance board and as a member of the Grants Committee for the Gainesville Women’s Giving Circle. We are thrilled to have her back on our board.
