Dr. Naima Brown

Dr. Naima Cherie Brown was raised in Philadelphia and moved to Florida in 1990 to attend Florida A&M University, earning a bachelor’s in sociology. She later completed her master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Florida.

In 2000, she joined Santa Fe College as a sociology professor, internationalizing the Marriage and Family curriculum through global travel. In 2013, she became Vice President for Student Affairs, leading a wide range of student-focused departments.

Dr. Brown has served on the Executive Board of The Education Foundation of Alachua County previously and  has remained an active supporter through event sponsorships and scholarship review. She is passionate about helping students access higher education.

In her free time, she enjoys Scrabble, novels, community theater, and traveling with her husband, Michael Mackey. We are excited to have her back on our board.
