Planned Giving
Donor Advised funds
- Establish a flexible vehicle for annual charitable giving
- Benefit from a more tax and cost efficient alternative to a private foundation
- Obtain a charitable income tax deduction in the year of your gift
How a donor advised fund works
- You make an initial, irrevocable gift of cash or stock to fund a DAF at a sponsoring organization
- The assets in your DAF grow tax-free
- You make annual recommendations on gifts to be made from your DAF
Gifts from your donor advised fund
Your donor advised fund has several advantages. You can make one larger gift to a DAF and then recommend grants to us and other nonprofits.
IRA/QCD Charitable Gift
Donate your IRA tax-free
Did you know that you can support the Education Foundation of Alachua County and satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) tax-free at the same time? If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA. This is also known as an IRA charitable rollover. A QCD is a distribution from your IRA directly to a qualified charity, specifically the Education Foundation . This distribution counts towards your RMD and can directly decrease your taxable income, even if you don’t itemize your deductions. If you are interested in this tax saving contribution, contact your tax advisor as well as your IRA custodian
to determine their process for initiating a QCD.
Residual Beneficiary
As an alternative to a specific dollar amount or percentage bequest, you may wish to designate The Education Foundation as the “residual beneficiary” of the estate. After family members and others have received specific bequests, the endowment fund as a “residual beneficiary” will receive what is left in the estate. The Education Foundation can also be named as the beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k) or 403(b). You can also mail donations to:
